The 12-hour event will be the biggest international music festival South Africa has to date.
METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich recently told Rolling Stone magazine that the band will spend about six months writing music for their ninth studio disc before commencing the recording process. The band announced last month that they will record their new album with producer Rick Rubin, who has worked with SYSTEM OF A DOWN, SLIPKNOT, the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, AUDIOSLAVE and others.
METALLICA's 1991 self-titled ("black") album sold more than 5,000 copies in the United States last week (week ending March 12),bringing the total number of copies sold since its release to 14.6 million (according to Nielsen SoundScan). Meanwhile, the band's most recent studio CD, 2003's "St. Anger", has shifted less than two million units in the U.S. so far.
